CRA for importers — verification before making products available

Importing a non-EU product involves a distinct economic operator role. Do not confuse importer verification with the manufacturer's own assessment.

Identify the manufacturer and product

Retain manufacturer, product/version, supply-chain and market context. Review the required marking, documentation and instructions against the applicable obligations rather than accepting a generic compliant statement.

Preserve concerns and escalation

Record missing or inconsistent evidence, the review owner and the action taken before further availability. Link supplier requests and responses to the exact target product or release.

Role changes

Rebranding or modifying a product can change the responsibilities needing review. Assess the actual circumstances and substantial-modification question; do not assume the importer label alone fixes the legal role forever.
